But FirsTier Bank has been around since 1963, when Joel Wiens purchased his first bank in Kimball, Nebraska. Wiens had a vision of how a bank should be run, and he surrounded himself with a team of talented and experienced people to see that vision through.Thirty years later, Joel and his son, Tim Wiens, opened their first bank in Colorado. In just nine years, the Wiens' had opened 17 full service locations throughout the Denver metro area with assets of nearly a billion dollars. The banks merged with Compass Bank in 2001.But the Wiens' were not satisfied with the big bank attitude, and were drawn once again to serve their local community. By 2003, the Wiens' bought back their Nebraska bank branches, and the rebirth of FirsTier Bank in Colorado began. Today, the bank is owned primarily by Joel and Tim Wiens, with smaller interests offered to key management staff.Q: Will FirsTier Bank merge with another big bank?A: FirsTier is committed to building long term relationships with the customers in our community. We have no intention of merging or selling.Did you know?Do you have a question that's not covered here?
